Milestone: First day of Pre-K

Four and half years old and going to big girl school.  Where did the time go? For the last few days Michaela has been waking up and asking “Do I get to go to school today?” Today was the day. Her bag has been packed with her first day homework, her clothes laid out, hair planned, and accessories chosen (all thanks to Mom).

I’m already dreading next year with buses, full days, and the rest of it.

Field Trip: State Fair 2016

It’s been an amazing week.  Andrea had a week off and we’ve been all over creation. We returned from a waterpark vacation and had a free day with no plans. We did what any red blooded Minnesotan would do, we packed everyone back up into our trusty van and headed to the local state fair.

After parking in our super-secret-one-block-from-the-fair-grounds parking lot we set off for a day of fun!

We stopped to gear up on with our alma mater before a trip the baby animal barn. The kids were treated to ducklings, lambs, calves, and piglets.

We turned to the full sized animals at the cattle, horse, and swine barns.  We discovered free cheese sticks (perfect timing to avoid mid-morning hangry time), got a impromptu visit from the crowned Princess Kay of the Milky Way, entered a coloring contest, saw the largest boar, and had a couple more close encounters with barnyard animals.

A stop at the Milk booth left the kids reeling

The kids were getting a little stir crazy so we gave them a little bit of excitement. Andrea took a turn as well, complete with flips!

The expressions, totally legit

We found a picnic table ate our lunch and mid-oreo dessert Dominic was asleep. The rest of us found some hula hoops and stopped at the PBS booth for pictures with famous cut-outs.IMG_8628-COLLAGEIMG_8632-COLLAGELittle man woke up and immediately saw some big trucks and NEEDED to get some pictures with themIMG_8650 IMG_8651

After that we stumbled across a parade and finished the outing with rides at the Giant Slide, carousel, and kid-way.IMG_8654-COLLAGEIMG_8678IMG_8695-COLLAGEIn the end, we had a full 6 hours at the fair with a minimum of crabbiness from parent or child.

What a great way to spend a Thursday!

Michaela’s First Slumber Party

For months Michaela has been asking to have her cousin Cece over for a slumber party.  The stars aligned and Michaela had her first sleepover party this weekend.

Loud music was played, popcorn was everywhere, giggling was common place, and the fun lasted into the wee hours of the morning.

The party would be incomplete without a few memorable quotes by the girls.

DanceParty! Popcorn Party! This is the best time!

Bacon is my love!

Dominic did his best to keep up with the girls but hit a wall and went to bed hours before them.

The Amazing Feats of Michaela

At three years old, Michaela is an energetic, insightful, curious, and inspiring little lady. She’s constantly busy. It’s hard to get her to slow down long enough to snap a couple pictures so here are a few action shots!

We visited Great Grandma and Grandpa Reimer in Texas. Michaela loves to stay busy and play new games….even games intended for a more mature audience.

Lounging in a freshly built fort

She’s always imaginative and when given the chance, she (Daddy) will build a Princess Tower or Castle.

She needs to work on her form, just a little

Taking inspiration from Daddy. Although, she needs to work on her form just a little.

Being all chill on the ice

She passed her skating class with flying colors in April. On her to way truly becoming Queen Elsa!

She always asks to drive. Sometimes we let her!

Making her favorites, steak and cheese

She wants to help cook supper…. especially chocolate chip cookies.

She’s a great little shopper. Her favorite store (at the moment) is Kowalski’s. Such refined taste.

Michaela is quite the athlete already.

Running her first race with Mom.

She’s a darling who loves to be a star!

She cannot get enough of her cousins.

4 wheeler ride with her Aunt on the famed Roering Land. She wanted to go fast, but not too fast. A girl who knows what she wants.

Great outdoor shot of my favorite two ladies and Little Man

She’s a poser as demostrated by this artsy profile pictures by Aunt Angela

Rocking out in the basement

She loves music. She has learned a ton from her music class at school (forte, piano, quarter notes, and lots of new sons). She had a ton of fun once she learned we had Rock Band

Michaela helps out. She has a little broom, but wants to use the big yellow one

She discovered this rock in our neighborhood. Its now known as “The Lion King Rock”

She got her own 4-wheeler for Easter. She loves riding it on the path behind our house. She also shares with all the neighborhood kids and runs along side them as the ride.

She’s always on the move. One of her favorite toys is her Scooter

Her first big girl haircut. She did a great job at the salon. Suckers were earned.

She got a twins hat from Grandpa and Grandma Olson. She wears it all the time
